SWE
Detroit Member wins SWE Distinguished New Engineer Award!
Congratulations to
Stacy Lueneburg, 2014 recipient of the Society of Women Engineer’s
Distinguished New Engineer Award! This
award will be presented to Stacy as part of the society conference in Los
Angeles, California this October.
Stacy’s Technical
Achievement’s, SWE Leadership, and Community Involvement over the years have
intertwined in developing Stacy into the strong, reliable, leader and engineer
that she is today. Stacy has been able
to use her innovative skills from work and apply them to SWE and her leadership
skills from SWE and apply them in her career.
Stacy has also been able to tie in her community involvement with Alpha
Sigma Alpha into SWE enabling her to bring in new ideas.
Stacy
graduated from Kettering University in December 2006 with a Bachelor of Science
in Mechanical Engineering with a concentration in Plastic Product Design. After graduation Stacy accepted a job with
Continental Automotive Systems working in the Interior Display Business Unit. While working at Continental Stacy continued
her education and earned a Master of Business Administration in Leadership from
Kettering University in December 2011.
Stacy currently works for
Continental Automotive Systems as a Senior Staff Mechanical Engineer and has
been a Lead Engineer on previous projects including global platforms for
various customers. Stacy found her
passion at Continental working on engineering new innovations for future
designs with Instrument Clusters.
Stacy
joined SWE in college in 2002 and has been a member ever since. In 2007 Stacy became involved with SWE
Detroit. Stacy has held several
leadership positions ranging from Member Involvement Chair, College Relations
Chair, SWE Detroit Treasurer, Section Representative, Region H Alternate
Senator, and most recently SWE Detroit President for the last two years. Stacy has also been involved with the Society
Awards Committee, as well as judging upperclassman scholarships.
Stacy
has been actively involved in the Alpha Sigma Alpha sorority since 2003 and
currently holds the position of Recruitment Advisor. As a current female engineer Stacy often
answers questions for the ladies about their co-op job, beginning their full
time careers, and course work. Stacy
encouraged the ladies to join SWE on their campus for more support. During Stacy’s involvement she has been able
to support the sorority’s philanthropy missions by making bracelets for Girl’s
on the Run and decorating bags for the Special Olympics.
Stacy
is also involved in the community and has participated in events such as Easter
Seals Walk with Me Detroit, Relay for Life of Clarkston, Walk MS Troy, and The
Engineering Society of Detroit judging the Michigan regional Future City
Simulations.
In
Stacy’s spare time she enjoys spending time with her supportive husband, their
three rescue kitties, and traveling.
