SWE members at the
University of Michigan are raising money to pay for four Liberian students to
come to the United States both to visit us in Ann Arbor as well as attend the
WE15 conference.
The students were
imperative in the start-up of LSWE, the first international student SWE
affiliate chapter in Africa. I am truly inspired at the rate that the students are
progressing and the passion and drive they are demonstrating as they work to
follow the mission of the Society of Women Engineers.
Attending WE15 is
vital for the Liberian students as they continue to learn about the impact of
our professional society and the ways in which they can make a difference in
their own communities. The students were accepted to present at the conference
and their voices are crucial in SWE's continual growth in international
activism and any progression we may make in targeting international
students.
I ask that you pass
along this message to the members of SWE Detroit and any other friends of SWE
that may be interested in supporting our mission as we continue to aspire,
advance and achieve together.
Regards,
Jackie Close

Women Engineers 2014-2015
