SWE-D Member Stacy Lueneburg Awarded SWE Distinguished New Engineer!

SWE Detroit Member wins SWE Distinguished New Engineer Award!
Congratulations to Stacy Lueneburg, 2014 recipient of the Society of Women Engineer’s Distinguished New Engineer Award!  This award will be presented to Stacy as part of the society conference in Los Angeles, California this October.

Stacy’s Technical Achievement’s, SWE Leadership, and Community Involvement over the years have intertwined in developing Stacy into the strong, reliable, leader and engineer that she is today.  Stacy has been able to use her innovative skills from work and apply them to SWE and her leadership skills from SWE and apply them in her career.  Stacy has also been able to tie in her community involvement with Alpha Sigma Alpha into SWE enabling her to bring in new ideas.
Stacy graduated from Kettering University in December 2006 with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering with a concentration in Plastic Product Design.  After graduation Stacy accepted a job with Continental Automotive Systems working in the Interior Display Business Unit.  While working at Continental Stacy continued her education and earned a Master of Business Administration in Leadership from Kettering University in December 2011.
Stacy currently works for Continental Automotive Systems as a Senior Staff Mechanical Engineer and has been a Lead Engineer on previous projects including global platforms for various customers.  Stacy found her passion at Continental working on engineering new innovations for future designs with Instrument Clusters.
Stacy joined SWE in college in 2002 and has been a member ever since.  In 2007 Stacy became involved with SWE Detroit.  Stacy has held several leadership positions ranging from Member Involvement Chair, College Relations Chair, SWE Detroit Treasurer, Section Representative, Region H Alternate Senator, and most recently SWE Detroit President for the last two years.  Stacy has also been involved with the Society Awards Committee, as well as judging upperclassman scholarships.
Stacy has been actively involved in the Alpha Sigma Alpha sorority since 2003 and currently holds the position of Recruitment Advisor.  As a current female engineer Stacy often answers questions for the ladies about their co-op job, beginning their full time careers, and course work.  Stacy encouraged the ladies to join SWE on their campus for more support.  During Stacy’s involvement she has been able to support the sorority’s philanthropy missions by making bracelets for Girl’s on the Run and decorating bags for the Special Olympics.
Stacy is also involved in the community and has participated in events such as Easter Seals Walk with Me Detroit, Relay for Life of Clarkston, Walk MS Troy, and The Engineering Society of Detroit judging the Michigan regional Future City Simulations.

In Stacy’s spare time she enjoys spending time with her supportive husband, their three rescue kitties, and traveling.
