Society of Women Engineers - Detroit Section -- Open PD Events Chair
Open PD Events Chair
We as a leadership team of SWE-Detroit are constantly looking for
good talent and finding new recruits that could contribute to our section with
different ideas as well as get their own personal growth from a more in depth
experience being a chair and organizing events. We are currently
looking for a SWE-Detroit member who’s interested in being the FY15
Professional Development (PD) Events Chair, term runs from immediately (first
event is currently being planned for September) through June 30th 2015.
The position organizes monthly professional development event
ranging from technical tours, companies hosting technical or professional
speaker in an evening event, to our mini-series PD event that we just held for
the first time at Nissan with nearly 100 attendees. Monthly events run
from September through June and organizing includes picking event location,
speakers, and coordinating advertising and attendees for the event. We
start with the kick-off event in September which is coordinated by the
PD events chair with the VP of PD, VP of Membership, and President to help get
the SWE-D membership engaged for the new year. There are a couple of
months that events aren't planned by PD events chair due to other large
SWE-Detroit events that are organized by other chairs/committees, including:
December's holiday party by Special Events chair, April or May PD conference
planned by the COMPES (NSBE, SHPE, and SWE) PDC committee planning team, and
June's annual banquet which is also planned by the Special Events chair.
So this leaves several months for you to be creative on events you'd like to
engage our membership in and there are plenty of resources between our advisory
council, PD committee, and alliance council (company representatives) that can
help you with contacts/resources to get you started.
Thanks for your consideration of this, I know if you select this
opportunity it will be an excellent choice. Feel free to ask questions
via email the VP of Professional Development at swe_detroit@ hotmail.com
