STEAM Volunteer Event at Rochester High School

The STEAM event at Rochester High School on May 2nd included both a career-fair style setup with representatives from all different STEAM fields. There was representation from various companies and universities as well. In addition, there were workshops which included hands-on activities to introduce students to various STEAM fields. 

SWE Detroit's participation included 6 volunteers representing Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Component Integration at the career-fair style section of the event, and also an interactive Industrial Engineering workshop that introduced students to the concepts of manufacturing, assembly lines, and process improvement.  All the volunteers, students, and parents had a great time!

Girl Scout Gold Award Website

Natalie Gold is a high school student in California who reached out to one of our SWE-Detroit members, Silvia Karlsson,to interview her for a Girl Scout Gold Award project. The final product can be found here:
