Join SWE and the Appropriate Technology Collaborative (ATC) for the November PD Event on Saturday, November 23rd 10am-1pm in Ann Arbor to learn about Engineering for Good, followed by lunch at Zingerman's Roadhouse!
John Barrie, Executive Director of ATC, will talk about the projects his organization has implemented using engineering to improve the lives of people in developing countries. One project that he will highlight is teaching solar to women in Guatemala and starting a women's solar power cooperative in 2014 (http://apptechdesign.org/mayan-power-and-light-2/) ATC has also partnered with student groups at the University of Michigan and Michigan State University to design solar vaccine refrigerators, treadle pumps, and more.
