Volunteers Needed - Maker Faire

Join the Planning Committee for this year's SWE booth at Maker Faire Detroit!  In the past, we have made "slime" out of borax and white glue, and held a bridge-building competition with straws and straight pins.  The time commitment is expected to be 1-2 meetings, to design outreach materials, build displays, and plan the activity.

If you're interested in getting involved, please RSVP to swemakerfaire@gmail.com and fill out the following scheduling poll: http://doodle.com/9qnt36zmz3sy8x8w

We are especially looking for those who would be interested in learning the role/responsibilities of the SWE Detroit lead for Maker Faire, to continue SWE’s participation at this special event in future years.

P.S.  You don't need to be available for the Faire on July 25-26 to participate in the planning!

What is Maker Faire? Well I’m glad you asked!  Maker Faire is an award winning, family friendly event celebrating technology, education, science, arts, crafts, engineering, food, sustainability, and more. Maker Faire has become part of pop-culture, a place for experiential marketing, debuting new technologies and inventions, and celebrating geekdom. Maker Faire is the Greatest Show (and Tell) on Earth—a family-friendly showcase of invention, creativity and resourcefulness, and a celebration of the Maker Movement.  It’s a place where people show what they are making, and share what they are learning. Makers range from tech enthusiasts to crafters to homesteaders to scientists to garage tinkerers.  They are of all ages and backgrounds. The aim of Maker Faire is to entertain, inform, connect and grow this community.  http://www.makerfairedetroit.com/
