Who: Everyone (18+) is welcome - bring friends, family, co-workers! (We do need a minimum of 10.)

1. Please arrive early (~ 30 minutes) to socialize and get set up for our painting session.

2.  You are welcome to bring beer, wine or non alcoholic beverages of choice along with any snacks or appetizers that you would like. Hard alcohol is not allowed.  All guests must be 21 years of age with proper identification to consume alcohol. Painting with a Twist will have a supply of wine openers, cocktail cups, cocktail napkins and a bucket of ice to chill your beverages.

Volunteers Needed - Maker Faire

Join the Planning Committee for this year's SWE booth at Maker Faire Detroit!  In the past, we have made "slime" out of borax and white glue, and held a bridge-building competition with straws and straight pins.  The time commitment is expected to be 1-2 meetings, to design outreach materials, build displays, and plan the activity.

Volunteer Opportunity - Maker Faire

Are you interested in volunteering with SWE Detroit on outreach projects? If so, we have a great opportunity for you! SWE Detroit always hosts a booth at Maker Faire (July 25-26^th), and we are currently kicking off the Planning Committee for the event. STEAM Volunteer Event at Rochester High School

The STEAM event at Rochester High School on May 2nd included both a career-fair style setup with representatives from all different STEAM fields. There was representation from various companies and universities as well. In addition, there were workshops which included hands-on activities to introduce students to various STEAM fields. 

SWE Detroit's participation included 6 volunteers representing Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Component Integration at the career-fair style section of the event, and also an interactive Industrial Engineering workshop that introduced students to the concepts of manufacturing, assembly lines, and process improvement.  All the volunteers, students, and parents had a great time!

Collegiate Transition Lunch Update!

Collegiate Transition Lunch on 4/11:

On one of the first sunny days of the season, SWE-Detroit hosted the annual Collegiate Transition Lunch! 4 Professional members were able to meet with 8 collegiate members from Michigan State University, the University of Michigan, and Kettering University! Over lunch we talked about what it was like to be a professional member in SWE, great events the collegiate sections are hosting, and upcoming SWE conferences! We all had a fun time and are looking forward to seeing each other a future SWE events. This event was planned and hosted our College Relations chair, Emily Zumbrunnen.
